FOX Denver | News | Democrats Scramble to Get Supporters to Polls
(08.08.06 - AP) — It’s primary day and Democrats in the contentious 7th Congressional District are scrambling to make sure their supporters get to the polls.
They’re worried that turnout could make a big difference in who wins the primary race to succeed Republican Congressman Bob Beauprez.
Peggy Lamm, former sister-in-law of former Governor Dick Lamm, is focusing on women, counting on gender and name recognition to make her the first congresswoman from the district. Ed Perlmutter is rallying the party faithful, who backed him with money and resources.
Herb Rubenstein is hoping independent voters go to the polls to change their affiliation so they can vote for him.
